How to apply

Announcement: Call for proposals - second bidding round 2012/2013

The second bidding round for 2012/13 is now open for submission of project proposals.  If you are interested in applying for funds, please contact the fund manager in advance to discuss the proposed project and to ensure it fits with the Japan Prosperity Country Programme Strategy and our requirements.

The bidding round is divided into a concept and full bid stage. The deadline for submitting concept bids is 26 April 2012.

If your proposal is accepted at the concept stage, you will be contacted and required to submit a more detailed full bid form and activity based budget (ABB). The fund manager will provide you with the template documents.

General information on how to apply and the bidding process is below.

General information

  • The Prosperity Fund offers funding for projects which are in line with the Japan Prosperity Country Programme Strategy
  • The prosperity project guidance provides more information on the types of projects that may be eligible for funding. 
  • All Prosperity Fund applications must be made in English.
  • All projects to be funded following the first bidding round must take place between 1 April and 31 March 2013.  
  • All projects to be funded following the second bidding round must take place between 1 June and 31 March 2013.  

Timetable – second bidding round 2012/2013

Applications must first be submitted in the form of a concept bid to the Prosperity Fund manager by 26 April 2012. Concept bids that are approved by the Programme Board will need to be developed into full bids by 21 May 2012. Successful Full Bids will be allocated funding by the Programme Board.  We expect contracts to be signed and funds allocated by 30 May 2012.

Please follow these steps to submit bids for the first Prosperity Fund bidding round FY 2012/13:

1) Email an outline of your project idea

• If you consider you have a project idea that may be eligible for funding please e-mail an outline of your project idea, including project purpose and its likely impact, to the Prosperity Fund manager andrew.price2@fco.gov.uk as early as possible.  
• The Prosperity Fund manager will advise whether your idea is suitable to be developed in to a formal concept bid and may arrange a separate meeting to help develop your idea.

2) Submit concept bid

• Please fill out the concept bid form and submit to the Prosperity Fund manager andrew.price2@fco.gov.uk by 26 April 2012. The concept bid form contains guidelines to help you fill it in.

3) Concept bid review

• All concept bids will be reviewed by a Japan Prosperity Programme Board 8 May 2012.  The Programme Board comprises Embassy staff and non Embassy representatives
• If the Programme Board agrees your concept bid is strategically aligned and it meets other basic criteria you will be invited to develop a full bid.

4) Full Bid requested

• The Prosperity Fund Manager will contact you to confirm timelines for the full bid submission and help you develop your bid.
