If you suspect you have swine flu

This is the current advice from the Japanese government:

  • If you suspect you have swine flu and have mild symptoms, please go to your local doctor's clinic.
  • If you have severe symptoms (e.g. extremely high temperature, severe cough) please go to the casualty department of your nearest hospital.*
  • If you are vulnerable because of pre-existing medical conditions. pregnancy or you are elderly please go to the casualty department of your nearest hospital.*  

*We recommend that you call the hospital in advance to see if they accept patients with Swine flu.

Quarantine

There are no quarantine measures in place at Japanese ports at the moment .

The Japanese government has enough Tamiflu to treat 33,800,000 people.

Toyko Metropolitan Government has set up Influenza (H1N1) consulation centres (Japanese only) for individuals who do not know which medical institution to contact.  In office hours please contact your local public health centre.
