Energy and Environment Section is a small team dealing with the political and economic aspects of this key area in the UK-Japan relationship.

We work to promote close cooperation between Japan and the UK on energy and environment issues. The two subjects are closely intertwined, especially with respect to climate change - a core part of our work.

The Section's current areas of involvement are:  

• Climate Change
• Sustainable development issues (e.g. Illegal Logging, Whaling, etc)
• Energy Security
• Renewable Energy
• Nuclear Energy
• Other environmental issues especially relating to multilateral environmental agreements
