Increase in Passport Fees

From 3rd September 2009, all passport fees increased by 50 pence. Please note that  applications will now be charged at the new rate.

Visa and Mastercard Payments

Customer can now pay consular and passport fees by MasterCard and Visa credit or debit cards. Please note that we are unable to accept American Express, JCB, Diners Club, Maestro or other credit/debit cards.

Customers who come into the Embassy or Consulate-General will be asked to produce their credit card and sign an authorisation slip. If you are paying for a third party (i.e. your child) we will need to see a photo-ID.

For postal applications please use the correct forms depending on whether you live in eastern or western Japan. Please follow the guidelines.

If you are sending original documents or credit card authorisation slips, we recommend that you use registered mail (kakitome).

Please be aware that we cannot guarentee the security of credit card applications sent by fax or normal mail.

Please note that only the Embassy in Tokyo can accept passport applications.
