Strategic Programme Fund (SPF)
The Strategic Programme Fund (SPF) was established in 2003 to support the Government’s international goals, of which one is the promotion of a low carbon, high growth global economy.
Starting 30 July 2009, the British Embassy is currently looking for proposals for projects that may be eligible for funding under SPF. The selected projects will start on 1 April 2010 (1st application round) or 1 July 2010 (2nd application round) . In Japan, the Low Carbon High Growth programme is aimed at delivering the following outcomes:
- A visible and accelerated shift in investment initiated in the major economies towards low carbon (1st & 2nd application round)
- Political conditions created for an equitable post-2012 agreement at the UNFCCC COP in Copenhagen in December 2009 of sufficient ambition to avoid dangerous climate change, and the implementation of that agreement (2nd application round)
A wide range of organisations, including NGOs, private businesses, individual consultants, think tanks and academic institutions are eligible to apply. There are no upper/lower limits to funding. In general, the location of the project should be Japan.
